Foggy Bottom Neighborhood: a Walkable Urban Place
A quiet, walkable, historic, riverside neighborhood at the southern end of Rock Creek Park on the Potomac River, DC's smallest and earliest settled neighborhood reflects the culture, internationalism, and history of the nation's capital. Home to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, George Washington University, State Department, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank, Foggy Bottom is a short walk from the shops, restaurants, and nightlife of Georgetown and the West End.
The Watergate complex itself contains an array of shops, a post office, and a 5-star hotel with a rooftop bar. A walking/biking trail connects Foggy Bottom to the Georgetown waterfront park and the Capital Crescent Trail, Thompson Boat House (boat and bicycle rentals), and Washington Harbor. Close by are Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and the West End Public Library. Washington Reagan National Airport is a short drive or rail trip away. Foggy Bottom is served by Metrorail's Blue, Orange, and Silver lines (Foggy Bottom/GWU station).
